Details

This project is aimed to design a wireless safety system for gas leakage and fire alert warning system via GSM communication system. Dangerous gas leakage as well as fires have caused wide damage to home and industries and economies in the past. These agents spread wildly and instant action needs to be taken as soon as such an event occurs. It is very important to detect a gas leak or fire as soon as it breaks out so that it can be prevented from spreading instantly. This project propose a system that detects gas leakage as well as fires as soon as they start and alerts the authorities automatically so that it can be stopped from spreading.

 

The project design involves an advance microcontroller interfaced to gas and fire detect sensors and GSM modem. The detector is based on the commercial gas sensor and gives digital output on detect any gas leakage as soon as it is encountered. The gas sensor sends a signal to the microcontroller as soon as gas leak is detected so that microcontroller can process it further. The fire detector is based on light sensing photo diode in order to detect fire. The fire sensor instantly sends a signal to the microcontroller on fire detection.

 The temperature and light sensor instantly sends a signal to the microcontroller on fire detection. Once the microcontroller receives signal from the sensors, it processes the input and calculate and alert about the intensity and severity of fire based on sensor's value and immediate it alerts by displaying on LCD as well buzzer alarming and then sends a signal to the GSM modem to send an sms to the intended authorities so that they may take appropriate action.

 The power supply consists a step down transformer 230/12 vac , this ac voltages is converted to dc unregulated voltages by a full wave diode rectifier bridge and further ripple free dc voltages is obtained by a capacitive filter. Further, +5 volt dc regulated supply is generated using a voltage regulator IC 7805 for operation of the circuit.

 This project can further enhanced by involving more safety parameters such as shock/vibration and theft safety as well.
